Hidden name: After creating a grid, and writing our names in bubble letters we alternated between three colors. In order to get this hidden effect you had to make sure that the same color wasn't touching, except at a corner. When choosing the colors we had to make sure that we were picking complementary colors (blue and orange).
Extension Activity: I would have students do this but in a slightly different way. I would have it on a larger paper, and have students include different images that help to represent them. (A camera if they like photography). Becuase I am adding that element of drawing and putting it on a larger scale I would decrease the number of colors to two. It would be the same alternating, but with two colors instead of three.
